The World Outside My Window #1

I had to take a minute to share with you a great artist and illustrator that I came across today in Etsy whilst searching for a San Francisco print...
Coincidence the loveliest one I came across by a mile was created by an artist based in
 San Francisco?....I think not.
I can't wait to visit next year...Roll on 2013 already!

I must admit I'm a little envious of the great photo styling also!
I think I need to get the San Francisco and the New York one now!

What about you hmm?  Do you have a big trip planned soon?

Tea in the Rain

Let's drink Tea in the Rain...

"Let's play hide and seek with the sun
And sit under an umbrella
Of fresh leaves and lime"
                                                                                  Placebo-Inquiry

I've been having a browse and came across quite a few sites that use colour swatches from pictures they like as colour inspiration for their own projects and decided that I had to give it a try!

Here is the picture and the lovely colour palette I took from it..

This illustration is by the amazing Stefania Manzi.
You can find more or her inspiring artwork here

Then I got to work on a free downloadable card for all you lovely people using the colour palette
I created that you may like to give to a certain someone or maybe...
 just post it to yourself....
that works also.

So this is what I came up with using the poem and colour palette..

Do you like?
It prints as A5 and becomes A6 once folded in half...small and sweet...
and you can even print two on one A4 piece of card to look after those trees.
Pop a little heartfelt message on it...and you are in business!

If you want to check out some serious palette pingpong along with some really awesome downloadables then pop on over to Ginger & George as each week Kirsty and her friend Gabrielle challenge each other to work some magic from a picture they have chosen.
I'm not sure who the winner is so far....I'd safely say it's a draw!
xx

Printer tips and settings...remember to make sure paper scaling is set at none
and auto-rotate and center is unclicked!:)

Blame it on the Weatherman..

It's been a funny sort of day in my studio.  I went to bed last night with a pretty impressive to do list (including some product pictures I really need to take) and woke up to a cold day with no light boo!

On the plus side I did treat myself to a pedicure..a lovely cup on lavender latte and a gossip with my mum....and got another chance to wear my bunny family angora jumper from Topshop....oh so soft and comfy..sigh

What about you hmm?  What have you been up to today? xx

Little Paris Kitchen

"This is what you do on your very first day in Paris. You get yourself, not a drizzle, but some honest-to-goodness rain, and you find yourself someone really nice and drive her through the Bois de Boulogne in a taxi. The rain’s very important. That’s when Paris smells its sweetest.  It’s the damp chestnut trees."....
Audrey Hepburn...Sabrina

Being a huge fan of cooking programmes and cook books my new fave has to be
The Little Paris Kitchen

I adore all things French and would jump at the chance to head back to Paris for an extended visit so it comes as no surprise that each week I sit glued to the TV as the quirky Rachel Khoo takes me...(yes me)...from the very best La Fromagerie to the tastiest bistro then back to her tiny little flat to produce some contemporary twists on classic French cooking with a fresh and simple approach....ooh lala...and perfect for Summer!  I can't wait to get cooking.

 ...Un pur délice!!!

Paint Chips & Guacomole...

I stumbled upon a great idea for how to liven up a white space in a cost effective way that looks really fantastic over on A Beautiful Mess; which if you haven't visited before then you have to now as it is full to the brim with lovely ideas and pretty things!

This project uses the paint cards you can pick up from DIY stores in any colour combo you like for amazing results...being a sucker for all the lovely colour combos available I'm now glad for a reason to get collecting and get creative..hurrah!

This other quirky tutorial also from Elsie on A Beautiful Mess shows you how to take an old painting and turn it into some really cool and personal artwork. I feel a car boot sale trip coming on...

When the camera comes out....

So with the sudden surprise of lovely March weather....really?!?...Please don't be gone by Friday evening!!!...I have been thinking that it'll soon be time to emerge from my cosy woolly favourites and prepare to fully embrace Summer.
And with the Summer comes the clicking of the camera shutter; the perfect light for picture taking...which makes me very happy indeed!

So here is a little homage to those special little moments frozen in time that fill my life and make me smile

Tea and Cake Time

Yesterday my lovely Mum and I visited the shops in Glasgow for a spot of last minute Christmas shopping and lunch at the yummy Tea Rooms of the Butterfly and Pig!

This Tea Rooms really are an adorable mix of eclectic china cups, the tastiest champagne lunch and boast a pretty impressive cake collection to pick from...yum!

How about you hmm? What are your plans for the day?

"Get Me..I'm giving out wings!"

Finally got the chance to add a touch of red to our tree this year now that we have moved house and have lovely white walls that go with anything!

I also came across this tutorial for a Christmas wreath which I need to get around to trying at some point...Lovely!

What about you?...are you almost ready for Christmas?

Holidays are Coming....

The first Sunday in Advent was yesterday and even though it's still only November I took it upon myself to put the tree up yay!

I spent ages on it and am pretty happy with the outcome...although I did manage to overheat one of the light adaptors tonight so it will be a swift trip to the shops tomorrow to remedy this sorry situation!

For me the holiday feeling starts when...The Coca Cola advert comes on!
I got so excited on a trip down South last Christmas when I passed a real life Coca Cola truck at a service station!!  The driver didn't seem to mind me asking for a picture in an excited squeal...as I suspect he is pretty used to this kind of reaction!

Best Job ever!

Okay so I know Christmas is about so much more than the Coca Cola truck but ..well it's so darn pretty!

A Tale As Old As Time

True as it can be....

I'm off to the theatre on Saturday with my family to see Beauty and the Beast and I can't wait!  I love this story and I'm sure this show will be pretty amazing.

So it got me in the mood for some online inspiration...which is of course theme related.

Hope you like it.

What about you hmm?...What are you upto this weekend?
